Frequently Asked Questions
What are the worship services like?
Worship is a time of fellowship, celebration and learning. Our pastor shares the life-changing message of the Bible in a clear, practical and relevant way.
We offer blended, contemporary, and traditional worship services to give you an opportunity to worship God as you feel led. The blended and traditional services are held in the Sanctuary. The traditional service offers hymns and light praise songs, accompanied by a piano, organ, choir and an orchestra. Our contemporary service is held in the Family Life Center. This service offers a variety of popular praise and worship songs, led by a praise team and band. In all services, the Word of God is unashamedly proclaimed. Is there a dress code? There’s no dress code in any service. You are welcome to come and take part in any of our services, wherever you feel the most comfortable. Wear you Sunday best or Florida formal (i.e. shorts and T-shirt). It is not what you wear, but who you worship.
What is available for my children on Sunday mornings?
Children and youth are very important to us and they make up a large portion of the Westside family. We strive to provide a safe, secure and fun environment where they can learn about God. To ensure safety, we have check-in areas at the entrances of each preschool and nursery classroom on the lower level of the main building. Children age K-6th grade have there own children's ministry area with classroom check-in. One of our greeters would be happy to help get your child to the appropriate classroom. How can I become a member?
You may unite with us in one of the following ways:
• By baptism: If you are making a first-time commitment to Christ or have made a previous commitment to Christ but have not yet been baptized, you can join by baptism.
• By letter: As a believer who has been scripturally baptized, you can join by letter from a sister Southern Baptist church. You do not have to bring your letter with you; we will write your church.
• By statement: If you have previously accepted Christ as your Savior, and/or belong to a church of another denomination, you can join by statement of faith.
Where do I park?
There is designated visitor parking in the front of the church. We also have parking behind the church that provides easy access to entrances on the lower levels of the Family Life Center, nursery, and preschool areas. You can also park in Waynesville middle school parking lot which has easy access to the main atrium entrance via a white bridge that connects to the front parking lot.
It is our very first time. Where should I start?
Just come to the main entrance atrium (top right photo) which is most easily accessed from the front parking lot or up the garden entrance stairs (top center photo) if you park in the back. We have greeters, guides, and an information booth. We will help your family get oriented and find everything.
How can I meet new people in such a large church?
There are a variety of Sunday school classes and small groups that would love for you to join them. These smaller groups are a great place to meet people and learn new ways to get involved in the many activities Westside has to offer. We also have Home Fellowship Groups that take place in a family’s home and offer a group study in a more relaxed and intimate setting. Call the church office to find a Home Fellowship Group that best suits you and your family's needs.
